Ebru Colors: Which Are Better – Traditional or Ready-to-Use?
In Ebru (marbling art), there are basically two approaches: traditional colors (pigment colors, prepared by hand) and ready-to-use Ebru colors. Which option is better depends on whether you prefer a traditional workflow or want to start quickly and cleanly.
1) Ready-to-use Ebru colors
- Ready to use immediately, ideal for beginners and workshops
- Consistent quality and quick results
- Less preparation effort
2) Traditional Ebru colors (pigment colors)
- Very traditional approach with maximum control
- More preparation (grinding/mixing pigments, dosing, storage)
- Interesting for advanced artists and traditional studios
Which colors are “better”?
For beginners, ready-to-use colors are usually the best choice because they allow you to achieve clean patterns more quickly. If you deliberately want to work in a traditional way, pigment colors are fascinating – but more demanding.
